Ya' know those plastic beads that almost every little girl gets some time or another while growing up?
They look a little something like this.
Well I still have some from when I was a kid. Yes, that means that these beads are really old and it is about time I do something with them or throw them out!
Let me also introduce you to my little Dollar Tree scented candle.
My little white scented candle need a candle coaster.
That is what I call them because that is about what they look like.
That is what I call them because that is about what they look like.
So I go to my craft area and see what I have.
I found this piece of scrap wood.
Then I wanted something that would reflect some light and make it special. That is when I came across the bag of OLD beads.
Other than this all I needed was to grab some 220 grit sand paper, white paint, modge podge, and 2 foam brushes.
First, I sanded the rough edges of the piece of wood and then wiped off the dust.
Then painted 2 coats of white acrylic craft paint.
And normally I would have just started gluing beads on with no plan, but this time I wanted to do it right the first time. It was good that I arranged a plan first because the plan changed a gazillion times before I found something that worked.
This is where I forgot to take some pictures because I was also watching my husband play a video game that was like watching a movie :)
Once I knew the pattern I was going to use I took all of the beads off and put a really thick layer of modge podge around the edges of the wood because this is where I wanted to start my pattern. Once I had the glue covered I added a big glob to the center and carefully spread it out to meet the area already covered. I then finished adding my beads.
Since the modge podge was so thick I let it dry over night before moving it around.

See the print in the frame? Well that was something I made up for Valentines that I didn't post about.
This year was our 7th Valentines Day and I wanted to celebrate not just the day but how many special Valentines we have been blessed to have together.

Such a simple, quick, and cheap little project.
I was really happy to use up some of those beads. All this time I have debated throwing them out and now I'm looking all over my house trying to find a way to use them.
Hope this inspires you to look around your home and reuse something old to make something pretty and new.
